Non-PAC Members – You are very welcome to join us!

Non-Spinnaker Races on Pittwater. The "Pittwater Sailors" races are organised by members of PAC (Pittwater Aquatic Club). Non-PAC members are most welcome to enter their yacht to race with us! Boat insurance policies usually include non-spinnaker racing in their standard cover. One race is held each month (except January) usually on the afternoon of the first Sunday of the month. Non-PAC members are also welcome to enquire about crewing on particpating yachts. The nominal start is at noon (1 pm in Daylight Saving) in two divisions - Blue and Yellow, based on performance rather than boat size - Blue sail slightly longer courses. Races are handicap start “pursuits”, with starting times staggered to reflect each yacht’s current handicap rating. In theory, all should finish around the same time. This can result in some exciting finishes, but avoids the stress of congested start-line manoeuvring. Participating yachts are allocated an ID number, which is displayed to the Start Boat as the yachts individually start (and finish) the race. The start & finish line is east of Scotland Island and races follow one of eight courses (North from there but within Pittwater) chosen regarding the wind direction on the day, so as to include all points of sailing. Races are conducted in general accordance with the current edition of International Racing Rules of Sailing. Yacht participation fee $8 per race ($5 for yachts owned by PAC members) helping to defray the organisational costs. Race results are announced at the post-race dinner at the PAC clubhouse, and later published on the PAC web site, and via a monthly email newsletter. To enquire about participating in your own boat, or as crew, please email the Sailing Captain using the contact form
